Robert James Stephens, 6936650, Flight Officer Graduated from Hobart High School and entered military service as private in November, 1939 at Fort Riley, Kansas. Completed enlisted Bombardier School, June, 1940 and Mechanics School, February, 1941. Remained in China-Burma-India Theater after Tokyo Raid as bombardier until July, 1943. Served in various Stateside assignments for remainder of service. Commissioned as Flight Officer February 11, 1944. Rated as Aircraft Observer. Retired for physical disability on December 1, 1944. Died of natural causes on April 13, 1959. Decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and the Chinese Army, Navy, and Air Corps Medal, Class A, 1st Grade. Born February 28, 1915, Hobart, Oklahoma Rose Cemetery
